Step One:
1 1/2 cup raisins
2 cups water
6 Tbsp oil or oleo
1 tsp salt
Cook all on top of stove for 5 minutes slowly

Step Two:
Now after cooking raisins, add
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 3/4 cups chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)

Preheat oven to 375

Follow Steps One and Two
Pour mixture onto a cookie sheet with 1/2 inch sides (jelly roll pan)
Bake until done in the middle (insert toothpick to check)
Cool and slice into squares.

My spin because I have a sweet tooth:

Add a glaze!! Mix 2/3 cup powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla and 1 1/2 Tbsp hot water.
Pour over raisin squares and wait for glaze to cool

My Grandma Field always served these at lunch. We had to finish our lunch before we got any. My
Grand Dad was a coal miner. He always ate his desert first because of the way they packed their
lunch bucket. Cold water on the bottom, then the sandwiches and on top the desert. He started at the top and worked his way down. Old habits carried on even at the dinner table.
