Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 cup butter or lard (lard makes softer cookies)
1 cup honey
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
½ cup sour cream
½ cup boiling hot coffee
6 cups flour
3 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp salt
1 tbsp anise seed
½ tsp pepper
3 eggs, well beaten
½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp pure anise extract
a few drop of anise oil (can be purchased on Amazon)
1 and ½ -2 cups chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Heat honey, sugar and lard in pan and cook until creamy. Cool mixture slightly and then add well beaten eggs and the rest of the ingredients. Mix well. Add enough flour to make a stiff dough (do not over mix at this point). Chill at least 2 hours. Roll dough into walnut sized balls. Bake in a preheated oven at 350º for 11 minutes. Watch the cookies closely and they go from "just right" to burned quickly. Remove from oven and quickly roll in powdered sugar. Cool.
