1 qt. Warm milk 110º
1 oz yeast
4 egg yolks, beaten
½ cup sugar
½ cup shorting
2 tbsp salt
½ tsp. Mace
8-9 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together sugar and shortening or lard. Add eggs and beat. Add yeast to ½ cup warm milk and salt. Add milk flour until dough is stiff enough to work. Let dough rise until doubled in bulk about 1 hour.
Dish out dough with a tablespoon, and roll into balls. Brush each with melted butter, place on a baking tray, cover and let rise until doubled in bulk.

Flatten the balls, and use your thumb to make a depression in the centre of each. Fill with fruit preserves. Allow to rise.

Bake at 375º for 15-20 minutes
