2¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
½ cup (1 sticks) butter, softened
½ cup shortening
¾ cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups Semi-sweet Chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts optional

Directions:

1) Preheat oven to 375º
2) Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl
3) Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in a large mixer bowl until creamy.
4) Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
5) Gradually beat in the flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts.
6) Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

Pan Options
1) Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 9-11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool completely.
2) Grease 15x10" jelly roll pan. Spread into pan. Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack. Makes 4 dozen bars.
3) Slice and Bake: Divide dough in half. Wrap in wax paper and place in refrigerator for 1 hour until firm. Shape each half into 15-inch log; wrap in wax paper. Refrigerate 30 minutes. Cut into ½-inch-thick slices; place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
