Personal Notes:
Great Grandma Maenner did not have a written recipe for this bread. Grandma Altizer talked her through the process and wrote down the recipe. The measurements are rough estimates. We had this bread every year on Christmas Eve with slices of ham when we went to Baltimore to visit. Seems like Granddaddy Dix would get lost every time we went to Baltimore; it just became part of the trip to find our way to Grandma Maenner’s house near the harbor.
