1/2 lb butter
1 1/2 c sugar
1 tsp Karo syrup (dark)
1 egg
1 tsp soda
3 cups flour, level
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp cloves
1 1/2 tsp ginger

Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together
Add liquid ingredients and mix well
Roll out on board to about 1/8 in thick
Bake @ 375º for about 6- 8 minutes
