1½ c packed dark brown sugar
⅔ c butter
1 T water
1 t almond extract
2 eggs
1½ c flour
⅓ c unsweetened cocoa
¼ t baking soda
½ t salt
12 oz semisweet chocolate chips
1 c blanched whole almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Toast almonds at 350º for 10 minutes, chop. Heat oven to 375º. Combine brown sugar, butter, water, and almond extract in large bowl. Beat at medium speed until well blended. Beat in eggs.
Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Mix into creamed mixture at low speed just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and almonds. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake one sheet at a time at 375º for 7-9 min, or until cookies are set. Do not overbake. Cool for 2 min on baking sheet. Remove to rack to cool completely.
