1 cup butter (salted)
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 egg
3 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Directions:
Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 350ºF.
2) Cream butter and sugar for 3 minutes. Add vanilla and egg and mix well.
3) Add flour and baking powder and mix well until the dough looks like playdough.
4) Roll out the cookies on the lightly floured surface and cut out the shapes.
5) Bake the cookies for 6-8 minutes or until the bottoms are slightly browned.
6) Let cool on a baking rack.

This is a great cookie recipe that doesn't require refrigeration while still keeping the shape of the cookies. They are tasty on their own but are also great for icing (see Cookie Icing recipe). You can also try different flavor extracts to change up the taste (we like using ½ teaspoon of almond extract to change it up).
