2/3 cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups unsifted flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup chopped nuts
1 package (6 ounces) chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat until ingredients are combined. Stir in vanilla. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Stir into creamed mixture until ingredients are combined. Fold in nuts and chocolate chips. Spread into a 15 x 11-inch jelly roll pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes or until done. Cool for 10 minutes and cut into 2-inch squares. Makes 6 dozen.
