2 pkg yeast
1/2 cup lukewarm water
4 cups flour
1 cup shortening
3 Tbs sugar
1 tsp salt
3 eggs separated
1 cup lukewarm milk
brown sugar raisins dates prunes apples nuts, or apricots

Dissolve yeast in water. In a large bowl, put flour, shortening, sugar and salt. Mix as pie crust. Beat 3 egg yolks n another bowl, Add yeast mixture and milk and beat well, Cover and place in basement overnight,
In AM divide dough into 3 or 4 parts. Use cookie sheets, Roll piece of dough into strips 9 inches wide and as long as possible. Spread with egg whites, beaten very stiff, a layer of brown sugar, then dates or other fillings. Fold dough over, tucking ends inside, Let rise for 2 hours, Bake in moderate oven 30 minutes, Ice with powdered sugar frosting,
