4 cups sliced apples
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ cup water
½ teaspoon salt

Ingredients for topping:
¾ cup flour
⅓ cup butter
1 cup sugar

Directions:
Directions:
1. If using fresh apples, not my homemade apple pie filling, put the first 4 ingredients in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes or until tender.
2. Mix topping ingredients.
3. Put topping on top.
4. Bake at 350º for 40 minutes.

The topping for this apple crisp is much lighter than the Siegel recipe. It's almost like sugar cookie dough. I usually make a double or triple batch of the topping, put the extra in a sandwich bag, and freeze it.

Jan 1, 2022: only 1 quart of homemade apple pie filling left. The small apple tree by the sidewalk was cut down last summer, and the large tree was cut down the summer before
