• 3 cups light brown sugar
• ⅓ cup corn syrup
• ⅓ cup milk
• 2 tbsp. butter
• ⅛ tsp. salt.
• ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
• ½ tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
~ Measure first 5 ingredients into heavy saucepan.
~ Stir gently over low heat till dissolved.
~ Boil, without stirring, to soft ball stage (drop of mixture into cold water forms soft ball) (238º).
~ Remove from heat; cool partially; and beat until creamy and thick.
~ Add vanilla and nuts (if desired).
~ Pour into oiled 8" x 8" pan.
~ Mark in squares while warm.

There’s no real recipe for Grandma’s fudge – it was her magic touch that made it so good. She would throw sugar, butter, leftover icing and milk into her old pot, and invariably come up with a delicious concoction. This old recipe from Kate Aitken’s cookbook might be the basis she originally worked from.
