Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
The way the story goes is this: Grandpa and Grandma Siegel used to can a lot of applesauce when we were growing up at home. Sometimes applesauce wouldn't seal and would start to spoil. Using the unsealed applesauce in this recipe was a great way to use it up. This was one of Kristi's favorite recipes growing up, and she observed Grandma putting fermented applesauce in the batter. When she moved away from home, she wanted to make this cake. She called Grandma and asked her where she could buy or find fermented applesauce. Too cute
3/08/2020 A batch-and-a-half is perfect for a 9x13-inch pan. I used 2 smaller eggs and it was just fine when Harold Christianson, Brett and Laura Heigh, Zach and Emma, Braedyn and Jasmine came over for supper.
