2 cups Shortening or Margarine
2 1/2 cups Sugar
4 Eggs
1 cup Buttermilk with 1 tsp of baking soda dissolved in it
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp vanilla
7 1/2 cups Flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream Shortening and sugar together; add beaten eggs, then add vanilla. Alternately add buttermilk with soda dissolved in it, with Flour and baking powder stirred in it. Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Chill dough at least 1 hour. Roll out dough, cut out with cookie cutters and bake at 350 degrees, approximately 8 minutes. Don't bake to long or they will be dry ( should be white, not browned.) Cool on cooling rack and frost with powdered sugar frosting.
