1 cup butter or margarine
1 ½ cups sugar
5 eggs divide and save egg whites
2 tablespoons anise seed
6 oz slivered almonds
2 oz whiskey
5 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Bake at 375º for about 20 minutes

Cream margarine and sugar, add eggs and anise seed and mix well. Add whiskey, then 1 cup flour at a time and mix well. Put the baking powder in with one of the cups of flour. You may have to mix the last cup of flour by hand. After the flour is all mixed in, add almonds. Beat egg whites till stiff and gently mix egg whites into dough. Mix by hand.
Make logs the size of your cookie sheet. About 2 inches by 12 inches.


Take out cookie logs and slice logs diagonally about 1/2 inch thick. Put cookies on sheet and return to oven till browned.
