2 cups sugar
1/2 cup hot water
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/4 tsp salt
2 egg whites
1 tsp vanilla

Optional add ins:

walnuts
pecans
candied cherries

Directions:
Directions:
Pour hot water over sugar, syrup and salt in a smooth sauce pan and stir until sugar is dissolved. Cook without stirring until a very firm ball, 248º test in cold water. With a damp cloth, wash away any sugar crystals that may have formed on sides of sauce pan and remove from fire.

While syrup is cooking, beat egg whites until stiff.

Gradually begin pouring syrup over egg whites beating constantly until divinity holds its shape when dropped by spoon. Add vanilla and nuts, drop by teaspoon onto wax paper.
