PLAIN:

2 cups sugar
dash salt
3 eggs
1 cup Crisco shortning
1 cup milk
5 1/2 cups flour
6 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla flavoring

ADD: 2/3 cups chopped dates OR 1/2 cup walnuts (chopped) OR any other flavor


CHERRY Italian Cookies

Same as plain EXCEPT ADD:
2 tsp almond flavoring
2 sm. jars maraschino cherries

FROSTING:

1/2 cup margarine (Creamed)
1/3 cup sifted confectioners sugar
1 tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring

Mix and drop into pan and bake at 300º 20 minutes
