2.5 cups flour
1 cup shortening
3 tbsp. dry grated orange peel
1 cup brown sugar
2 tsp soda
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp frozen orange juice not reconstituted
3/4 cups walnuts chopped
2 beaten eggs or 1/2 cup milk

Frosting:
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tbsp. frozen orange juice not reconstituted with water
2 tbsp. butter

Directions:

Combine dry ingredients
Cream shortening, sugars, orange juice, and eggs (or milk)
Combine all ingredients
Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes

Frost with icing as follows:
melt butter in a saucepan, add orange juice then kpour over powdered sugar and stir until completely smooth. Frost the cookies when they are cool.


Note: Orange juice must be melted but not reconstituted with water. Best to set out to thaw, do not heat to melt. Doesn't take long to melt enough to use.
