8 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar packed
1/2 c. molasses
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1` tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. powdered ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground allspice

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl, cream butter, sugar, salt and baking soda. Beat in egg and molasses. In another bowl, stir in flour and other dry ingredients. Add to wet mixture and beat together until dough forms. cover with plastic or wrap in wet towel. Chill 1 hour or more. Preheat oven to 375 F and grease cookie sheets. Roll to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with gingerbread men cookie cutters. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake 7 minutes and remove promptly. While cookies are warm, press in raisins or candies to decorate. Cool and continue to decorate with frosting.
