I'm writing this from my Grandmother's original recipe

Roaster full of peeled tomatoes and onions (sliced) I'm guessing 30 fresh tomatoes and 4 onions

2 cups apple cider vinegar

3½ cups sugar

4 Tbsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp pepper

4 green peppers seeded and cut in half and taken out after 2½ hours

Directions:
Directions:
Simmer tomatoes in large pot over med heat and simmer 1 hr! Skim off excess liquid or foam

Stir in peppers ( you might want to chop them and leave them in instead of removing like Grandma suggests but then it won't be authentic), sugar, onion, vinegar, salt, pepper, and cinnamon

Reduce heat to low and simmer 3 to 5 hours until liquid reduces and thickens.

Remove chili sauce from heat and skim off any foam

Pour into hot, sterlilized jars leaving ¼ inch headroom. Adjust lids and process for 10 minutes in a boiling water bath

Note: If you do not want to "jar" the sauce, it can be refrigerated

I kid you not, this sweet chili sauce is wonderful on pot roast or hamburgers!! Grandma and Grandpa always had a huge garden so everything was fresh!! Good memories of good people!! I am so glad to get this recipe! It was fun texting with my cousin in Rushville. I will make this next summer when Daddy's tomatoes are ripe!! Be watching your mail!!
