"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain

Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º. Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer until thickened.

Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly and in between lattice so that is doesn't run off.

Bake 15 minutes at 425 degrees in the preheated oven. Reduce temperature to 350º Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes until apples are soft and crust golden brown.

I have no idea who Grandma Ople is but so glad she has shared her pie because it really is terrific! And so impressive to see the lattice crust! Put this one in your Apple Pie priority box! And if you are lucky, you can ask Em to help!!!
