Apple Pie by Grandma Ople Recipe

Ingredients: 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
½ cup unsalted butter
3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
¼ cup water
½ cup white sugar
½ cup light brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
8 Granny Smith apples--peeled, cored and sliced ( I usually use 2 Yellow Delicious Apples and 6 Granny Smith apples)

Directions:Preheat oven to 425º. Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer until thickened.
Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly and in between lattice so that is doesn't run off.
Bake 15 minutes at 425 degrees in the preheated oven. Reduce temperature to 350º Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes until apples are soft and crust golden brown. |

Notes: I have no idea who Grandma Ople is but so glad she has shared her pie because it really is terrific! And so impressive to see the lattice crust! Put this one in your Apple Pie priority box! And if you are lucky, you can ask Em to help!!!
