Directions:Cream shortening. Gradually add 1 cup of sugar beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer. Add egg and molasses and mix well. Combine flour and next 8 ingredients. Mix well. Add about 1/4 of the flour mixture at a time until gone and beat until smooth. Chill dough in refrigerator 1 hour. Shape dough into 1" balls and roll each ball in granulated sugar. Place 2" apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 for 9-10 minutes. (tops will crack) Cool on wire racks.
I also mix up a glaze of 2 cups of powdered sugar and enough milk to make a glaze. I whisk that together and pour over the cookies while they are cooling on the wire rack. |
