4 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate 1 cup water
1 stick butter 2 eggs
2 cups of sugar 2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp baking powder
1 pinch of salt 1 tsp vanilla
½ cup sour cream

ICING: Seven-Minute frosting
2 egg whites 1 ½ cup sugar
¼ tsp. cream of tarter 1/3 cup cold water
Dash of Salt

Directions:
Melt in small pan on stove, low heat baking chocolate, water, and butter then cool. In large mixing bowl beat with mixer until smooth eggs and sugar. Sift together in a smaller bowl flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Alternately add some melted chocolate and then some flour into sugar and eggs mixing each time until all ingredients are smooth. (doesn’t take long) Lastly add vanilla and sour cream. Using mixer blend all ingredients together until smooth.
Pour into 2 round prepared (greased & floured) metal cake pans.Bake at 350° for about 35-45 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes then remove from pans. Ice when cakes are totally cooled.
Can also be baked in large rectangular pan or as cupcakes.

Icing:
Using mixer on med to higher speed, beat all ingredients in top of double boiler for 7 minutes over hot/lightly boiling water. Icing will get light and fluffy. Remove from heat. Lastly, add 1 tsp. vanilla and mix well into icing. Ice cake immediately.
