Ingredients for cake:
1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
4 eggs
16-ounce can Hershey's syrup (In 2019, Hershey changed their syrup from a yellow-lidded can to a bag.)
1 cup + 2 Tablespoons flour
½ cup nuts
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Ingredients for hot fudge:
1 cup chocolate chips
½ cup butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1-⅓ cups evaporated milk

Cake directions:
1. Mix cake ingredients.
2. Bake at 350º for 20 minutes.

Hot Fudge directions:
1. Mix hot fudge ingredients in saucepan.
2. Stir and cook till it comes to a low boil.
3. Add vanilla once it is off the burner.

Make BOTH the cake and hot fudge, or JUST the hot fudge topping. Trust me; the cake by itself is lacking. Make sure you have LOTS of ice cream. This is one of Grandpa Jerry and Nana Karlstad's favorites. We enjoyed this at Dan Eggebraaten's house (Nana's cousin) April 12, 2001, the night before we moved back to the Brookings area. I was 8 months pregnant with Zach, and Jasmine was nearly 3 years old!
