1 1/2 cups flour
3 tablespoons Dutch process cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon white vinegar
6 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup cold water

Heavenly Icing
1 cup milk
¼ cup flour
1 cup sugar
½ cup shortening
½ cup butter

Directions:

Preheat 350°. Place the dry ingredients in a bowl. Make 3 small holes in the mixture. Pour the vanilla in one hole, the vinegar in another and vegetable oil in another. Pour water over the top and mix until well blended. Pour into a lightly greased 8 by 8-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes. Allow to cool and top with Heavenly Icing.

For the icing, cook the milk and flour until thick. Allow to cool. Meanwhile, beat sugar, shortening and butter together until fluffy. Add the cooled mixture and vanilla and beat until well blended and fluffy.
