1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup conf. sugar
1 T water
1 tsp vanilla.
1 1/4 cup sifted all purpose flour
dash of salt.
2/3 cup chopped dates,
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans.

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter and 1/2 cup conf. sugar. Stir in water and vanilla.
Add flour and salt. Mix. Stir in chopped dates, and chopped walnuts or pecans.
Roll into 1 inch balls and place 2 1/2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 300 degrees for 20 minutes until set but not brown.
While warm roll in confec sugar.
