Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 3/4 C slivered almonds
1 1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 3/4 cup sugar
3 TBS white corn syrup
3 T water
12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 C ground almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Toast Slivered almonds in a frying pan over low flame until golden brown. Generously butter a parchment lined 9 x 13 jelly roll pan. Spread the chocolate chips evenly on the parchment paper.

In a heavy sauce pan heat the butter, sugar, corn syrup and water. Insert a candy thermometer (not optional) and stir the mixture the entire time until it reaches 300º. This could take as long as 1/2 hour.

After the mixture reaches 300º remove it from the heat and stir in the slivered almonds. Pour this mixture over the chocolate chips and spread evenly. While the mixture is still hot press the ground almonds on the top. With a very sharp knife score the brittle as if you were cutting a pan of brownies. Cover loosely with was paper and allow to sit overnight.

After the mixture sits overnight remove it from the pan and divide into pieces.
