Ingredients: 10 - 12 lb. Ham (shank or butt portion) 2 sticks of softened butter 2 -3 cups of brown sugar

Directions:Line your roasting pan with foil. Dry the ham with a towel or paper towels so the butter will stick to it. Then take the softened butter and rub over the top and sides of the ham. Now pack the brown sugar on top of the butter that you put on the ham. Wrap the ham up good and tight with the foil. You don't want any of the meat showing. Place in a 250 degree oven for 10 to 12 hours. Be careful because there will be plenty of juice after it has cooked for a while. When the ham is falling off the bone remove from oven and let it sit covered for a few hours. Once it has cooled off enough that you can touch it pull the ham apart such as pulled pork. I do this so that I can remove all the fat from the ham and it being warm makes it much easier. I put this ham in a deep pan so that I can pour some of the juices over it to keep it from drying out. |

Personal
Notes: My grandchildren and my brother's think this ham has to be at every dinner we have. I have to cook two just so they all have some leftovers to take home with them. Tommy likes for me to just cook a small one sometimes just so he can have ham sandwiches. This ham makes the best ham sandwiches.
