2 cups sugar
1 cup oil
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup hot water 3 cups flour
1½tsp. salt
⅔ to ¾ cup cocoa powder
1 cup butter milk or sour milk
2 teaspoons of soda



Icing for Chocolate Cake.


½ cup cocoa powder, ½ cup melted butterr, 1 t. vanilla, 3 cups powdered sugar, enough milk to make a spreadable frosting. Be careful with the milk.

Beat sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla until well incorporated. Add flour, salt and cocoa alternately with sour milk or buttermilk. Add 1 cup of hot water mixed with the 2 teaspoons soda. beat well. Put into a well greased 9x13 pan, or large tube pan and bake in a 350º oven for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean. Don't open the oven for at least 50 minutes to check it. It has been known to fall. Frost cake after it has cooled for 10 to 15 min. It tastes best when frosted warm.
