1 pound of butter
3 cups sugar
7 cups of flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
11 or 12 eggs
1 cup wine or grape juice

3 teaspoons cinnamon
3 teaspoons cloves
2 teaspoons nutmeg

1 pound orange peel, lemon peel, dates, cherries, citron, raisins, prunes, pecans, English walnuts, pineapple, grape fruit peel.

Directions:

Reserve 2 cups flour for fruit.

Sift baking powder, spices and flour. Mix sugar, butter add unbeaten eggs, wine and flour.

Add floured fruit.

Grease papers for pans. Place in cold room. Bake at 200 for 1/2 hour.
275 for 1 hour. 300 1 hour.

Test with straw.Turn off oven.

If done leave in oven for 30 minutes. Let cake cool in pans.

Daddy said that his Mom mailed fruitcake to him, when she could reach his division.

Our Thanksgiving dinner was grilled cheese. Our Mom and Dad spread large brown paper on the kitchen table, and mixed the ingredients there.
