⅓ c butter, softened
⅔ c packed brown sugar
1 egg
1⅓ c flour

2 tsp grated lemon or orange peel

1½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg

¼ tsp salt
¼ c milk
1 c chopped dates

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar. Add egg and mix well. Combine the flour, lemon peel, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Stir in dates.

Drop by rounded teaspoon 2' apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 325º for 13-15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool.
