2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400°.

Cream together butter, shortening, 1½ cups sugar, the eggs and the vanilla. Blend in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls.

Mix the sugar and cinnamon and roll the dough balls in the mixture. Place on ungreased cookie sheets, 2 inches apart.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until set but not too hard. Remove immediately from the baking sheet.

For stuffed:

After the dough is shaped into balls, make a well in the center and add the piece of chocolate, and reform ball over the chocolate. Chocolate will be molten when fresh from the oven, but the chocolate will harden again when the cookies cool.
