11/2 c. sugar in a kettle with 1/2 c. cold water
11 eggs measuring 11/2 c.
1 cup flour-measure after sifting
4 level t. cream of tarter

Sift cream of tarter and flour 4 times. Now begin to heat the sugar and separate the eggs. Beat egg whites 12 minutes. After 8-10 minutes boiling your sugar will look thick. Pour it into the egg whites and beat 20 to 25 minutes. Add 1 t. vanilla.Now add dry ingredients. Fold in 9 egg yolks which have been beaten to a lemon color.
Put cake into cool oven and bake 11/4 hours as follows:
15 minutes the thermometer should register 200.

This recipe was given to me by Aunt Thelma, but her note said, "this is your Aunt Lottie's Angel Food Cake, you may not remember it, but I am sure your mother does!"
The following is a powder sugar icing that Mom often puts on her sister's angel food cakes. Mix with electric mixer: one box of powdered sugar, a melted stick of butter, enough milk to make a spreading consistency, and 1 tsp. vanilla.
