2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 sticks oleo
1 cup water
3 tablespoons cocoa
2 eggs; well beaten
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, measure, resift with sugar and salt. In a saucepan, put oleo, water and cocoa. Bring to a boil and pour over flour and sugar mixture. In another bowl, put eggs, soda, buttermilk and vanilla. Add to above mixture and mix well. Bake in a greased and floured shallow pan (15 1/2x10 1/2x1 or bigger). Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Start icing the last 5 minutes cake is baking.

Chocolate Frosting: 1 stick oleo, 3 Tbsp. cocoa, 5 Tbsp. milk, 1 box (lb) powdered sugar, 1/2 cup pecans (optional), 1 tsp. vanilla. Mix oleo, cocoa and milk in saucepan and heat over low flame. Don't boil. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar, pecans and vanilla. Mix well. Frost cake as soon as removed from oven. Cut cake in squares to serve.
