"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds icing sugar (may need more or less, sifted)
1 can Eagle Brand Milk
2 tbsp corn syrup
1/4 cup soft butter
Flavorings of your chose ( chocolate, almond, peppermint, maple, peanut butter etc.)

Chocolate for dipping
1 lb. chocolate wafers (approx) Dark, Milk or white. We prefer milk. I usually use Merkens
If you find after melting it is too thick add 1 tsp cocoanut oil or shortening

You may need more than a pound of wafers.

This recipe does need both time and patience.
It is very worth while in the end.
Cream butter, milk, corn syrup. Add icing sugar (sifted), a cup at a time.
Use a mixer and when starts to become stiff use a spoon and muscles.
The more you mix the creamier the chocolates.
Divide into smaller amounts for the different flavors you wish to make and add the flavorings.
Once again mix very well.
Cool individual flavors in fridge for at least 30 min. and then roll in small balls (once firm) and place on parchment paper and place in fridge or freezer, to get really firm.

I prefer to melt the chocolate in the microwave. (over hot water is the way they used to do)
I use a 4 cup measuring cup and use about 1 1/2 cups wafers in it. Chocolate is melted in batches.
Then I set for 3 min. and the MOST important part is to set to power level 3.
Start.Once finished, stir with fork, it will take a min. to finish on its own or put back in on power 3 for a short time. If too thick add oil.
Take chocolates a few at a time out of fridge and dip with fork and put on parchment. Cool well until set.
Our family has made for years and I still make some. It really is easy and a fun tradition.
