2 C. Sugar
2 C. Whipping Cream
3/4 C. light corn syrup
1/2 C. butter
1/2 C. nuts (optional-I don't remember Grandma using them)

Directions:
Directions:
Hold 1 C. cream. Bring rest of ingredients (except nuts, if using) to a roiling boil in large pot, stirring constantly.
As mixture thickens and darkens, gradually stir in remaining cream.
Cook to hard boil stage (250º)

Butter 7 inch pan-sprinkle nuts on bottom,if using.

Pour in caramel; cool

Cut into serving pieces. Keep & store cool.

Grandmas always wrapped the pieces in cut waxed paper, twisting the ends.
