1½ cups flour
1 cup sugar
3 TBSP cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
6 TBSP melted butter
1 TBSP vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the dry ingredients together and sift into an ungreased 9" square baking dish directly. Mix together the butter, vinegar and vanilla. Make 3 holes in the dry ingredients and pour the butter mixture into the dry mixture. Pour the cold water over all, and mix with a fork. Until well blended. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

According to Mom, this old fashioned recipe is fast and easy. Note that there are no eggs. She made this once for Gramps, (Rolly's father), when we lived on Oak Street because he arrived unannounced, so she pulled this cake together to serve to him.
