For Cookies:
½ cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 egg
1½ cups flour
¼ tsp. salt
½ tsp. baking soda
½ cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1¼ cup chopped pecans, (optional)

For Frosting:
½ square unsweetened chocolate, melted
⅓ cup butter
1 egg yolk
1 cup sifted confectioners sugar
½ tsp. vanilla


Directions:
Directions:
Cream together in bowl, shortening and brown sugar. Add the melted 2 squares of unsweetened chocolate, and beat together. Add the egg and beat again. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking soda. Stir in vanilla. Gradually add in the milk. Stir in pecans if desired.

Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes at 400º.

To make frosting, mix all ingredients in a bowl and beat together, and frost the cookies. Makes about 4 dozen.
