1 c. flour
2 oz. Bakers unsweetened chocolate, melted
½ c. granulated sugar
½ c. shortening (i.e. Crisco)
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract

3 T. flour
½ c. packed light brown sugar
¼ c. peanut butter
2 T. butter, softened

Preheat oven to 325º.
In a large bowl with mixer at medium speed beat 1c. flour, melted chocolate, ½ c. sugar, ½ c. shortening, egg, and vanilla until well mixed: occasionally scraping the bowl.
Set aside this mixture and wash the beaters.

In a small bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat 3 T. flour, brown sugar, peanut butter and butter until well mixed; scraping bowl occasionally. (Mixture will be crumbly.)

Drop the chocolate dough by teaspoonfuls, 1 in. apart, onto a cookie sheet.
Top each with ½ tsp. of peanut butter dough.
Dip a fork into flour and press gently across the top of each cookie.
Bake 12 min. or until firm.
Remove cookies to rack and cool.
