1 c. granulated sugar
½ c. butter, softened
1 egg
2 oz. Bakers unsweetened chocolate
⅓ c. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 ¾ c. flour
½ tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
6 oz. semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400º
Melt and cool the chocolate.
With an electric mixer, mix the sugar, butter, egg, melted chocolate, water and vanilla.
Add flour, baking soda and salt and stir with a spoon.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoons about 2 in. apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 8-10 min. or until almost no indentation remains when touched.
Immediately remove from cookie sheet to a wire rack.
Frost when they're cool.
 

Chocolate Frosting

2 oz. Bakers unsweetened chocolate
2 T. butter
3 T. water
2 c. confectioner's sugar

Directions:

Melt chocolate and butter in a pan over low heat.
Remove from heat and stir in water and confectioner's sugar. (I use a large whisk.)
Frosting should be smooth (no lumps or dots of sugar) and spreadable.
It might be necessary to add more water/sugar and/or heat a little to achieve the right consistency.
Frost the cookies while the icing is warm.
