1 (14 oz.) package caramels
⅔ cup evaporated milk
1 box devil's food cake mix
¾ cup melted butter
1 (12 oz.) package of semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Unwrap the caramels and melt in a saucepan with 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Preheat oven to 350º. Stir until candies are melted.
Grease a 9X13" pan. Combine in a large bowl, the cake mix, melted butter, and the remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
Press 2/3 of the dough into the bottom of the pan. Bake at 350º for 6 minutes.
Remove from the oven. Spread the chocolate chips over the top of the partially cooked brownie batter and then pour the melted caramel evenly over the top. Piece the remainder of the brownie dough on top of the melted caramel. Return the pan to the oven and bake for approximately 15 more minutes until it is not jiggly anymore.
Cool and cut into squares.

Personal Notes:
This is EVERYONE's favorite dessert. The brownies were first discovered at the Sconset Café on Nantucket. Then the recipe was found in the first Sconset Café cookbook and we've all taken turns bringing these to family parties.
