1 stick plus 1½ tbsp. butter
1 pound box ( 2 cups), brown sugar
3 eggs
2⅔ cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped nuts, (optional)
1 tsp. vanilla
6 oz. chocolate chips

Directions:

Melt butter in saucepan. Let cool. Stir in sugar. Beat in eggs 1 at a time. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together and add. Add nuts, vanilla and bits. Bake at 325º for 25 minutes in greased 9X13 pan for 30 minutes or until done.

Toll House Brownies:

Follow instructions above except nuts and chocolate chips. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Put in oven 5 minutes, then pull out and spread the chocolate. Return to oven.

This is such an easy dessert and a family staple. Under the category of "Great Minds Think Alike", Tracey and I showed up for Dad's birthday once and had both baked him a batch as a birthday present!
