Ingredients: 2 sticks unsalted butter (still cool) Make sure it's REAL butter, not margarine 1½ cups powdered sugar 1 large egg 2 tsp. vanilla 3 cups all purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder

Directions: |
Directions:Beat butter on low; add powdered sugar. Add egg and vanilla and beat on medium. Add flour and baking powder until combined. Use a spatula to gather all the dough and place on a plate or clean counter to rest about 5-10 minutes. Kneed the dough by hand until nice and smooth. The dough should not stick to your fingers when you press into it, if it does, kneed a little extra flour into it. You can roll the dough right away OR you can wrap in plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator for later. Divide dough in half and roll out onto parchment paper or granite counter; sprinkled lightly with flour. Cut out your cookies and remove excess dough from around the cookies. Place cookies on parchment paper on cookie sheet being careful not to place too closely. Bake 400º for 6-9 minutes. Check after 6 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
Store cookies in air tight container and decorate within a week. |
