Cake:
1 cup shortening (part butter)
2½ cups sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup cocoa
2 cups hot coffee
3 cups flour
1teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder

Frosting
1 cup milk
3 Tablespoons flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup ( 1 stick margarine and ½ cup crisco)
½ teaspoon vanilla

Cake:
combine the cocoa and hot coffee. Stir to dissolve completely. Add to creamed shortening sugar and egg mixture alternately with the dry ingredients
Bake at 350º for 30 to35 minutes in greased 8 /9inch cake pans

Frosting:
Combine the milk and flour and cook over low heat stirring constantly until a smooth paste is formed. Set aside to cool. Cream remaining ingredients. Add cooled paste and beat 10 minutes at high speed.
