Filling:
1/2 lb. pitted dates, finely chopped
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup water1/8 tsp. salt

Dough:
2 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
Directions:
Directions:
Cook date mixture 5 minutes.
Add salt and nuts.
Cool.
Chill dough slightly and roll into rectangle 1/4inch thick.
Spread date filling over and roll up like jelly roll.
Wrap in wax paper.
Chill overnight.
Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
