* 2 eggs
* 1/3 cup sugar
* 1/4 tsp salt
* 2 cups milk scalded
* 1 tsp vanilla extract
* nutmeg, sprinkled

Directions:
Directions:
Beat eggs, sugar, and salt. Slowly add scalded milk and vanilla. Pour mixture into a 1 1/2 quart baking dish and set in a pan with 1 inch of hot water. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake at 350º for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Bake until knife inserted 1 inch from edge comes out clean. Serve warm or cold.
Recipe from Grandma Rhea Plude (1905 to 1980). My mother Marie Anne Cyr (nee Plude) said that they would have this custard as a meal sometimes. They raised chickens for eggs and had a cow for milk in the 1930's and early 1940's when living in North Branch.
