½ # butter (2 sticks)
½ # shortening
5 egg yolks
5 ½ c flour
½ pint sour cream
2 cakes of yeast
2 T sugar

Mix all ingredients in large bowl using your hands to blend and work until smooth. Warm about 4 T sour cream first and dissolve the yeast and sugar in it and then add to rest of ingredients) Put dough in refrigerator overnight.

5 egg whites – stiffly beaten
2 c ground walnuts
3 T powdered sugar
Milk

Fold stiffly beaten egg whites into ground walnuts. Add powdered sugar and just enough milk to moisten mixture into a paste. Roll a handful of dough at a time, paper thin and cut into 4 inch squares. Fill with nut mixture and roll diagonally. Shape into crescents. Place on cookie sheet and bake 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar. When rolling dough, roll in powdered sugar.
