1 large chopped onion
1 Tablespoon butter
1 head shredded red cabbage
1/3 - 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 - 3/4 cup white vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
Sautee onions in butter. Do not allow to brown.
Add half to three quarters of the vinegar and sugar. Stir, then add red cabbage.
Add 2 1/2 to 3 cups of water. Cook down for 1 1/2 hours
Add remaining vinegar and sugar. Cook down for another 1-2 hours.
