¾ cup butter,soft
1 cup sugar
¼ cup molasses
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp ginger

optional: ½ cup crystallized ginger (I don"t use this)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix butter, molasses, sugar and egg together, then add dry ingredients which have been mixed together.

Stir until blended. Chill. Form into balls and roll in sugar.

Place wide apart on greased baking sheet. Bake @ 375º for 8-10 minutes.

NOTE: For chewy cookies, bake minimum time.
For a crispy cookie, bake maximum time.
