1 c sugar
1/2 c shortening
1/2 stick butter, unsalted, softened
1/4 c molasses
1 egg
2 c flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp salt
Sugar for rolling

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the butter, shortening, and sugar till creamy and mix well. Add the egg and molasses and mix till combined. Add the flour and spices and mix well. Cover dough and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Remove dough from the refrigerator.
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and preheat oven to 375.
Roll dough into 1" balls and then in sugar. Place on baking sheet and bake 10-12 minutes.
